"Stories have the power
to teach and to heal."
About
Biography
Tegan is a wife and mother of three from Iowa. She believes in stories and their power to teach and heal.
She began writing as a child and fell in love with fantasy after reading Bruce Coville's The Unicorn Chronicles. It would be nearly two decades before her childhood dream of publication came to pass, but the inspiration from her joy of reading was so impressive she couldn't let this dream go. She is now the author of the Legends of Iori series with her debut book, Splintered Hearts.
Prior to self-publishing, Tegan has had a variety of experiences to help her career along. She was first published in a small, local magazine called "Julien's Journal." In college, she majored in English literature and took journalism, then later wrote for a local paper, "The Voice of Muscatine." She is semi-regularly published on the Empathy Cafe blog, a collaborative work that believes that "everybody has a story that can change your heart."

Tegan's work shares this belief and is expressed in the vulnerable writing of intimate pieces about her personal life and through the connected expression of human emotion and thought in the characters of her books. A survivor of chronic illness and PTSD and an advocate of mental health, her experiences influence her work.

Tegan was homeschooled and has seven siblings. A creative at heart, she enjoys many forms of art and music. Currently studying for her AAS in surgical technology, she continues to write for pleasure on the side. She lives in Iowa with her husband, Tade, and her three children, Taylynn, Tianna, and Tade Jr.
